NEW YORK VENDÉE
Created in 2015 by IMOCA and Open Sports Management, which is in charge of organising the IMOCA circuit races, the New York-Vendée transatlantic race takes the IMOCA fleet from one side of the Atlantic to the other over a 3,100 mile course. For its second edition, which will start in 2024, this transatlantic race will be organised by the SAEM Vendée.
Setting off on Sunday 29 May 2016, the first edition brought together fourteen skippers, each accompanied by a mediaman in charge of keeping the race alive from on board. For the fleet, it was a final confrontation before the start of the solo round the world race, which was launched a few weeks later. Jérémie Beyou (Maître CoQ) took his first major IMOCA victory, ahead of Sébastien Josse (Edmond de Rothschild) and Alex Thomson (Hugo Boss), three new foilers.
