In May 2021, the inaugural edition of The Ocean Race Europe was launched, a race bringing together crews at the helm of IMOCA and VO65 one-designs for a contact race between the Atlantic coast and the Mediterranean, over a course of three legs, all scoring the same number of points.

For the first time, the IMOCA boats were raced as a mixed crew and Offshore Team Germany, skippered by Robert Stanjek, won the first edition of the race.

The Ocean Race Europe continues to build on the sustainability programme initiated in 2017-18 now called 'Racing with Prupose' and will focus on the health of our planet, the impact of climate change on the Ocean, sustainability and the elimination of plastic pollution.
